Affiliate disclosure

How this site makes money, in plain language.

The short version

Tag & Tissue is free to read. We make money when you buy something through a link on this site: the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale, at no extra cost to you. You pay the same price you would have paid going there directly.

The Amazon Associates statement

Tag & Tissue is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

How the links work

Outbound product links on this site pass through our own redirect at /go before reaching the retailer. That exists for one practical reason: it lets us change where a product link points — to a different retailer, or to a program we join later — without rewriting the article. It records no personal information about you.

Every earning link is marked up as sponsored and opens in a new tab. Links to manufacturers, standards bodies and reference sources in our "References" sections are ordinary links and earn us nothing.

Which programs we are in

Today, Amazon Associates. Where we link to a brand's own store or to another retailer and we are not in their affiliate program, that link earns us nothing and we gain no benefit from you using it. If we join additional programs we will update this page.

We will never build a tracked link for a program we have not actually joined, and we will never present a link as independent when it is not.

What commission does not change

This is the part that matters. Commission plays no role in:

  • which products appear in a guide;
  • the order in which they are ranked;
  • what the "skip it if" line says;
  • whether a product is recommended at all.

Where a cheaper retailer is better for you, we link to the cheaper one, including when another option would pay us more. Buyer first; commission is a consequence, not an input. The full method is in our editorial policy.

No brand can pay to appear here, pay for a better ranking, or pay to have a negative note removed. We do not publish sponsored posts.

About prices

Prices and availability are set by the retailer, not by us, and they change frequently. For that reason we do not print prices in our copy — every buy button sends you to the current price at the retailer. Where a price does appear on this site it comes from live retailer data and is stamped with the date it was checked. Where no live price is available the button reads "Check price on Amazon" rather than showing a figure that may be wrong.

We never show a stale price, never predict a discount, and never claim a price is the lowest it has been.

What we do not have

For completeness, since affiliate sites are often assumed to have these: we publish no customer reviews, no star ratings aggregated from shoppers, and no testimonials. The only scores on this site are our own editorial judgments, labeled as such, and explained in the editorial policy.

Your rights as a buyer

Returns, warranties, shipping and customer service are all handled by the retailer you buy from, under their terms. We are not the seller and cannot process a return — but if a product we recommended turns out to be a bad recommendation, we want to hear about it so we can change the page.
